Flower Power | 14' x 16' | 2015 | recycled sweaters, t-shirts, shoulder pads
in the collection of the City of Surrey, British Columbia
Flower Power was created by Sola by reimagining one of her earlier works. Originally crafted to celebrate the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, the piece was transformed into a dynamic, three-dimensional vase of vibrant flowers.
“While displaying the Las Vegas Tapestry at the Santa Fe Art Fair, I realized how rewarding it was to see people’s big smiles when they saw it. I hope Flower Power will bring smiles to everyone’s faces and brighten their day,” Sola shares. The work is crafted from recycled sweaters, t-shirts, shoulder pads and other fabrics.
Flower Power is now part of the permanent collection of the City of Surrey. It has been on display at the Semiahmoo Library since its installation in 2022.
